My motif. I created an 8-point star and went from there. |

My repeat pattern. I based it off of multiple patterns I found online. |
Project Background
After spending a substantial amount of time on this project, it's finally completed. I created a repeat pattern and a motif on a 24 inch x 24 inch artboard for the ceiling tiles, and then used the Pantone color for the blue shade we voted on, which is 635 c.
Repeat Pattern
I based my repeat pattern off of a few patterns I found online. I used the Pathfinder tool to hollow out a section of the circle in the middle, and added lines across to create a symmetrical shape. Unfortunately, the pattern would not cooperate and center across the artboard, and after consulting with Mrs. Lofquist, we decided to just keep it the way it is.
Motif
My motif is far more complex than my repeat pattern. I first created an 8-point star, then added an outline around the outside of it. I then used Pathfinder to hollow out spaces within the points of the star. I then created another 8-point shape, then added another inside. I then played a connect-the-dots of sorts and added strokes on the inside to fit my liking.
Reflection
I liked this assignment. I really am proud of how my two ceiling tiles turned out, especially the motif. It's a great way to end the quarter and I'm excited to see what we do next!
Your pattern on the top is slightly of center. Make sure to change that before it gets printed :)
ReplyDeleteyour pattern is cut off slightly on the side and needs to be centered more.
ReplyDeleteWow Ben! I saw you working and you were on task! Your motif is amazing!!!!!!! Tell me how you did it! It reminds me of a snowflake.
