Weekly Blog 2: Article Review

The article I saw today was about the shooting in Las Vegas (the link is here). To date, it is the largest mass shooting in United States history, with at least 50 dead and over 400 injured. The shooter was 64-year-old Stephen Paddock, and as of now, there's no information on his motive.

The writer organizes the information well, as they start with an overview, then jump into eyewitness accounts and more detailed information on the shooting. The video included in the post gives more eyewitness accounts and a statement from the sheriff. The slideshow with pictures from the incident gives the viewer more detail to what occurred.

While I think the writer did fine with organizing the information, I think they could have done a better job with splitting up the actual sections of the article. For example, the first part of the article explains that it is a breaking news story, and repeats information that is also in the article later. As a reader, I'd rather not see repeated info.

As a reporter, I think it would be cool to add both video and pictures to a written story. It encompasses much of the overall story through the three different mediums.
